Missing Growing Pains Actor Andrew Koenig’s Body Found

Update: Tragically, Koenig’s body was found in Stanley Park in Vancouver. His father Walter Koenig reportedly said in a press conference, "Our son took his own life. He was obviously in a lot of pain."

More here.

Original Article: Andrew Koenig, an actor best known for portraying Kirk Cameron’s best friend "Boner" on the 80s sitcom Growing Pains has gone missing, and his family is using the web to try and find him. The family’s efforts begin at Andrew’s father’s website at WalterKoneigSite.com, which details Andrew’s last known whereabouts and the efforts the family is taking to try and locate him.

Here is what he looked like on "Growing Pains":

Here is a more current photo provided on the site:

Andrew Koenig Missing

"Andrew has been an activist his entire life and most recently has been working on behalf of the people of Burma, and was arrested during the 2008 Rose Bowl parade for protesting American involvement in China’s Olympics," it says on the site. "Andrew was suffering from depression at the time of his disappearance. The last time the Koenigs heard from Andrew by phone was on February 9. His cell phone is turned off and the last time his phone received a text was on February 16 in Vancouver."

It goes on to explain that on February 16, Walter got a letter from his son, which left him "concerned," due to its "despondent tone." The site says it’s not believed that any specific incident prompted the disappearance, adding that drugs were not an issue.

Contact information for the Vancouver detective on the case is provided at the site.

Andrew appears to have a Facebook profile with over 500 friends, though it’s hard to say with certainty that it’s legitimate (update: a reader has commented that she is a friend of his on Facebook and that it is his profile). A Twitter profile registered to an Andrew Koenig, sporting the same current photograph provided by Andrew’s father’s site can be found at twitter.com/JeSuisLeSinge. Again, we can’t be certain of the legitimacy, but it looks convincing as it displays tweets regarding activism-related topics. It has not been updated since January 24.

Social Network Marketing – Long and Short Term Traffic

Ever since the principle of social networking was introduced, internet marketers have started using a system which has been dubbed Social Network Marketing. One of the more attractive features of this technique is that internet markers can actively contact their target audience instead of relying solely on search engine optimization. However, there are forms of social network marketing which also benefit the internet marketers from an SEO standpoint, effectively generating backlinks while becoming part of a community.

Types of websites such as MySpace, FaceBook, and Tagged allow you to create a profile for yourself or your company. You are allowed to befriend anyone on the network, which acts as a great substitute for the sending of unsolicited messages. The idea is that you can create an interest in your company by contacting people directly and creating related discussions. Most of the time, they will check out your profile which will lead them to your website. This is a great way to get free traffic to your site.

The networking sites like the ones mentioned above do have a drawback though. Any links, no matter how much attention they get, will not be followed by the search engines. This means that you must branch your social network marketing out to other places if you plan on getting traffic from Google. In order to get your site on Google, you can try the following methods:

Some people find that they can effectively get backlinks through blogs. All you have to do is set up a set of blogs that update people on different aspects of your website, such as new things available for download, new products, new sections of your website, and anything else related to your business that might be interesting to the public. All links in your blog to your website will be followed by search engines. In order to generate attention to the blog, simply comment on other, more popular blog posts using a link to your blog.

Article marketing can be a little less complicated if you are able to write a lot of articles very quickly. Also, because there are so many article directories, backlinks will appear to come from a variety of different sources since there will be many different domains involved. Every article you write will result in a good backlink to your site. Just post articles that are somewhat relevant to your website, and include a link to your site in the author’s resource box.

Social network marketing allows you to contact the public in a direct manor. Using websites such as FaceBook and MySpace can help your website gain attention quickly, and long term traffic can be generated from blogs and article marketing. All you have to do is remember to look at it from a strategic point of view and develop the right plan.

Stats Put Android Ahead Of iPhone In Eight States

There’s encouraging news for Google in the Android vs. iPhone war.  A company that’s delivered more than one billion applications, games, ringtones, videos, and wallpapers to mobile users claims Android has topped the iPhone in terms of user concentration in eight states.

As the map below shows, these eight states are Arizona, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.  Then another five states are considered swing states, leaving the last 37 under Apple’s control.

Obviously, these findings don’t represent a true victory for Google even if they’re absolute facts.  The states associated with Android aren’t all chockfull of people, and eight to 37 isn’t a good ratio.  Apple fans are sure to point out that Myxer is relatively new to the stats game, as well.

Still, the data indicates that Android’s gained a lot of ground within a certain sample group, and that it’s done so at a more than reasonable pace.  What’s more, Myxer’s promised to update the map every quarter, meaning we’ll get a better idea of how things are trending as time goes by.

According to Myxer, "A total of one million unique users from both the Android and iPhone operating systems were used to make this comparison."
